Our son Isaiah just completed a photo shoot with Pete, and the experience was awesome. He was professional, friendly, honest and passionate. He made Isaiah feel comfortable and created absolutely beautiful photos. I know this won’t be the last time we work with Pete.
Pete’s professionalism, ability to make me feel comfortable, and his genuine passion for his craft made the session enjoyable, and the results were fantastic. If you’re serious about getting professional, industry-standard acting headshots, I highly recommend Pete Coco. You won’t be disappointed.
Pete takes the time to get to know you and what you're looking to get out of your headshot session, which makes you more comfortable going into it. He's patient, understanding, and extremely talented with combining the right lighting with the right backdrop and outfit color. 1000/10, cannot recommend enough!
The Photographer
I strive to capture authentic emotion in every session, favoring dramatic light and a cinematic approach over the flat, generic look of a typical headshot. My clients range from business professionals and entrepreneurs to actors, musicians, and creatives — people who refuse to settle for an average photo.
Whether we're working at my Garden City or Brooklyn studio, on location at your office, or anywhere else, my goal is the same: create images and video that represent your brand in a meaningful way and help you share your vision with the world.
Images are powerful tools. The right creative assets can be the difference between landing a dream role, connecting with a dream client, or getting the job you've worked so hard for — whether you're an individual, an entrepreneur, or a company of any size.

A professional headshot is a head-and-shoulders image that shows you at your best, with an amazing expression, great lighting, and a modern, clean look. Typically it's used on LinkedIn, your company website, email signature, and other social platforms.
Yes. Not only do you need a headshot, but you need a good one. A headshot is your digital calling card, and as more business is done virtually, having one that accurately represents your brand is more important than ever.
The process at my Garden City, NY studio is collaborative, empowering, and fun. I shoot tethered to my computer, so we review the images in real time together and find the best angles, poses, and clothing. I offer full sessions with multiple outfit changes as well as express sessions, to fit each client's needs.
A headshot is a head-and-shoulders image with a simple background, showing you at your best — think LinkedIn headshot. A portrait can be close up, half length, or full length, and uses more creative lighting and poses. The top gallery of my site shows headshots, and below that, portraits, so you can scroll up to see the difference.
Yes, but there is some overlap. Clothing, styling, expressions, and poses vary for acting and corporate headshots, but more important is hiring a photographer who understands your brand and goals. Each session at my studio is tailored to my client's needs.
Yes, I do recommend a makeup artist for my female clients. I work with an excellent makeup artist who understands how to apply makeup specifically for headshots. If you choose to do your own makeup, keep everything simple — not too much foundation, and not too much dark color around the eyes.
Yes! For ladies, I recommend having your hair done the day of the shoot for best results. For men, it's best to get a haircut a day or two before your session, so it settles and doesn't have spikey edges as can happen with a fresh cut. If you have no hair at all, that's no problem either — I have techniques I use for my follically challenged clients.
My main studio is conveniently located in Garden City on Long Island, with plenty of free street parking and a five minute walk from the LIRR Nassau Blvd train stop. I also have a location in Brooklyn at 20 Grand Ave near the Navy Yard.
Professional headshot prices vary quite a bit based on the photographer you choose, their expertise, location, and other factors. You can see my current rates on my Headshot Session Rates page, or call me if you need a special quote, like a branding session or team headshots at your office.
A typical session is under an hour, however my sessions are up to 2 hours, for those who need multiple images. If you just need one great headshot, I offer an express session which is about 20 minutes. We can figure out what is best for you by doing a consultation call.
Typically I suggest blues, neutrals, and form fitted options for a polished, camera-ready look. For corporate and business clients, small details like well-fitted collars and minimal patterns tend to photograph best against my studio backgrounds. For a complete breakdown, check out my blog post How to Dress for a Headshot.
Actors should bring as many options as possible, and make sure to have neutrals, form fitted shirts, and other simple options for a clean commercial look. A full breakdown can be found at my blog post here.
Yes. I work with teams of various sizes, and am happy to travel to your location across Long Island, New York City, and beyond for headshots, event photos, videography and more. I have traveled as far as California for my clients and am always happy to do so.
Yes. Any photo you choose to purchase is professionally retouched. This means that I clean up skin and hair edges, and soften lines and shadows. However, I do this is a very subtle and realistic way, so the images look like you on your best day.
I recommend booking 2-4 weeks out, because my schedule tends to fill up quickly. If you can't find a time that works for you on my schedule, please call or email me and we can find one that works.
